"Trust us" is not a model. Here is exactly what happens to a bill between a clinic in northern Nigeria and a donor's phone in London.

Every bill is a real bill

Bills are entered by the partner facility itself, in the DOGO Keeper app, with every line item recorded. Clinics cannot invent patients: doctors are unable to create cases in Keeper at all. They can only treat and document cases that were already registered at a DOGO stand and issued a six-digit ID. The case must originate with us.

A human checks every single record

Before any record reaches a donor, a member of our team reads it. They verify the details are coherent, rewrite the clinical prescription into plain language, and prepare the record for matching. Nothing is auto-published.

This is the most expensive part of our process per case, and the part we are most often asked why we do not automate. The answer is that the two things we are protecting, a donor's confidence and a patient's privacy, are both destroyed the first time a bad record goes out. So a person reads them.

Where the money goes

Funds are sent directly to the partner facility after being verified by our team. The donation settles a specific, itemised bill for a specific person. Donors are not funding a general pool that is later allocated.

Payment security

  • Card payments are processed by Stripe. DOGO does not see or store card numbers.
  • The entire website and both apps are served over encrypted connections.
  • Nobody at DOGO will ever ask you for card details in a chat, a message or a phone call. If anybody does, it is not us.

What each donor receives

After matching, a donor sees the first name of the person treated, their age, their town, something about their life, why they needed care, and an itemised breakdown of what the money paid for. That is the receipt in the only sense that matters.

Exchange rates

Rates are updated daily and frozen at the moment of matching, so the figure a donor sees is the figure that was true when their donation was applied. See what it costs for the detail.

Our registration

Asking us awkward questions

If something here does not add up, or you want detail we have not published, write to info@dogoapp.org. A person will reply. We would much rather answer a hard question than lose somebody quietly.

Give someone a treatment

Set up a £5 monthly donation and we will show you exactly who it treated. In Nigeria, £5 covers one person's entire treatment, usually with change.

Three ways to give, all working right now:

Monthly from £5, one-off from £10. Cancel any time from the app. Questions first? Write to info@dogoapp.org.
