Our technology
The hard part of this charity was never the medicine. The clinics exist and the doctors exist. The hard part was the plumbing that lets a person in London settle a specific bill in northern Nigeria and find out whose it was.
Three systems that talk to each other
1. Dogo Health, the donor app
Available on iOS and Android. A donor sets up a monthly donation, and each month is matched automatically with a person whose bill their donation settles. The app is where the donor sees who they helped and the itemised breakdown of what was paid for. Monthly donations can be cancelled from the app at any time.
2. DOGO Keeper, the clinic app
Built specifically for partner facilities. Clinical staff enter the patient's six-digit DOGO ID, record what treatment was provided, and submit the itemised bill.
The important constraint: doctors cannot create cases in Keeper. They can only treat and document cases that already exist because somebody registered at a DOGO stand. The system will not accept a patient we did not meet.
3. The verification and matching layer
This is where bills arrive, where a human being reads and cleans every record, where the queue is held, and where donors are matched to patients in order of waiting time. It also handles currency: rates are refreshed daily and frozen at the moment of matching.
Designed to be copied
Every part of this was built to be lifted and dropped somewhere new rather than rebuilt: the ID system, the clinic app, the checking process, the matching, the currency handling. That is why we can open in a new country in under six weeks.
A new region needs a team, a few partner clinics and a supply of donors. It does not need anybody to reinvent anything. The model copies, which is the only reason a charity this small can credibly talk about scale.
Working where the internet does not
The six-digit ID exists because it works without connectivity. A person can carry it in their head. Some stands run on satellite internet, which is how a working stand has been set up in a matter of days without a site visit.
Security and data
Patient data security was a design requirement from the first version, not a later addition. Card payments are handled by Stripe and card numbers never reach DOGO's systems. See transparency and patient privacy.
A note on what this data could become
Because our stands see presenting conditions across whole communities, the aggregate picture has public health value. If a stand sees a sudden rise in cholera cases, that is a signal about local water and sanitation worth acting on. We treat this as a possibility to be handled carefully rather than a product to be sold, and any such use would respect the privacy commitments on this site.

Set up a £5 monthly donation and we will show you exactly who it treated. In Nigeria, £5 covers one person's entire treatment, usually with change.
